Anne Wilson

Anne Wilson, 83, of Sanford passed away on Tuesday June 11, 2024. Memorial services will be held at 2pm Saturday June 15, 2024, at St. Luke UMC in Sanford. The family will receive friends starting at 1 pm before the service in the Ladies Parlor.

She was born and raised in New Bern, NC, a daughter of the late Peter Demetre Chagaris and Elizabeth Gaskins Chagaris. She was a graduate of New Bern High School and Women’s College (UNC-G). Teaching children was her passion. She was an elementary school teacher for 40 years. She taught at Warren Williams and Ingram Elementary School, where she retired in 2002. During her time teaching she was named Outstanding Elementary Mathematics Teacher in 1997. After retirement she continued to volunteer at schools tutoring children in reading.

She enjoyed many years playing tennis and bridge with her dearest friends. She recently took up playing pickleball. She was a loyal member of St. Luke UMC for nearly 60 years. She was an original member of the Biddle Sunday School Class. She and her wonderful husband of 32 years cherished their many years of traveling the world together.

She is survived by her husband Larry K. Wilson; daughters Kim Littrell (Mark), Paige Law (Tom), and Jonanne Lohr (PJ); grandchildren Lindsey Goodstat, Britton Laughinghouse, Carter Lohr, Cooper Lohr, and Cameron Lohr; brothers Peter Chagaris (Donna), Robert Chagaris (Jonalyn), and David Chagaris (Maria); beloved sister Susan Mackey (Robert); many nieces and nephews; stepchildren Claire Kerr, Lynne Manweiler (Kevin), Wallace Wilson (Beka), and Michael Wilson and their seven children.
