Barry Reagan Reynolds

Barry Reagan Reynolds, 61 of Sanford peacefully passed away Friday March 7, 2025. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 14th at Holly Springs Baptist Church. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Barry was born in Sanford, the son of the late William Leighton Reynolds and Carol Thomas Reynolds. A dedicated firefighter for 18 years, Barry’s life was defined by his service to others. In addition to his time as a firefighter, Barry was employed by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and was an entrepreneur, owning and operating his own businesses for 37 years, continuing to support his community in meaningful ways. Barry was also deeply involved in local politics, always striving to improve the lives of those around him.

A man of deep faith, Barry was devoted to the Lord, and his passion for spreading God’s love was evident in all he did. As a gifted gospel songwriter, he used his music to inspire and uplift, sharing the message of faith through every note.

In addition to his music, Barry’s kindness and generosity were shown through his Operation Love campaign, where he supported his community with compassion and care. His Hug Campaign served as a reminder of the simple, yet profound, power of human connection and love.

Surviving is his wife, Laverne Stone Reynolds; daughter, Hannah L. Walters (Liam) of Broadway; son Israel Reynolds of Sanford; granddaughter, Dawsyn Walters; brothers, Michael Reynolds, Paul Reynolds (Sherri), and Marty Reynolds (Melissa) all of Sanford; several nieces and nephews.

Barry will be remembered not only for his service as a firefighter, but for his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time. His legacy of faith, love, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
