CDR Lewis R Andersen US Navy Retired

CDR Lewis (Lew) Ray Andersen 82, of Sanford passed away at home on October 14, 2023. A Memorial service will be held at St. Francis Anglican Church on Monday October 30, 2023, at ll:00 am.

Lew was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Loranzo Andersen and Lona Jones Andersen, and stepdaughter Jamie Anne Studley.

Growing up in Malad, Idaho Lew was the original cowboy, loved the lifestyle riding horses, and breaking broncos. Lew served in the US Navy, had over 500 carrier landings in Vietnam, and received many defense awards. He loved his family and many friends. He golfed around the world and had a hole in one. He was especially glad to serve as Father Craig’s Senior Warden. In his earlier years, he served as president of Carolina Trace. Lew loved his fur babies Sophie and Cooper but had a special place for his cat High Five Sam. The family sends thanks to special friends and neighbor Eric and April.

Lew is survived by his wife Anita Blaser Andersen; daughter Nicole Stowell (Colin) of Ca.; son Kip (Jonna) Andersen of Mexico City; stepdaughter Jill (Gecko) Studley (Zouhair Bahada) of Sanford; sisters RaNae Andersen of Idaho, and Kathrine Dixon (Donald) of Coleville UT.

The family will greet friends following the service.
