Charles Vernon “CV” Bailes Sr, 87 of Cary passed away Saturday December 25, 2021. Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home. Committal services will be private at a later date.
Mr. Bailes was born in West Virginia, son of the late James W. Bailes Sr and Evelyn Summers Bailes. Mr. Bailes went to Deep River High School, ECU and UNC. He also went to Keegan Tech in Memphis, TN for Radio and Television announcing and worked with WWGP for several years. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving for two years in Europe. CV retired after 42 years from CP&L as Vice President of Fossil Operations. Mr. Bailes was a devout Christian man serving all of the Church’s he was a member of and loved teaching Sunday school. In 1961 he was ordained as a Deacon and currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach. Throughout the years he served the Board of Directors of the NC Baptist Foundation and served as President for several years; served the Board of Directors of the Roxboro Country Club.
Mr. Bailes is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita Wilkins Bailes; children, Charles Vernon “Chuck” Bailes (Lisa) of Rancho Cordova, CA, Christina B. Fields (Dennis) of Raleigh, Wesley Teague Bailes (Ginger) of Ft Mills, SC, and Lori B Wheaton (Todd) of Cary; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; brother, James W. Bailes Jr of Sanford; sister, Judy B Knight of Sanford and sister in law, Linda Wilkins McNeill of Sanford; cousin, Nancy Wenger Bridges; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal visitation at the family request, please no lines. COVID 19 guidelines will be followed, and facial coverings are requested.
