Charles Russell Godwin

Charles Russell Godwin, 70 of Sanford passed away Tuesday November 14, 2017 at Duke University Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday at Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Godwin was born in Sanford, son of the late Wilbur L. “Shorty” Godwin and Mildred Wicker Godwin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Jeffries Godwin and a sister, Brenda G. Fleming. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, a member of the US Navy Seabees, and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Charlie was a member of Gulf Presbyterian Church, the VFW and the Sanford Moose Lodge.

Mr. Godwin is survived by sons, Kevin R. Godwin (Cris), Michael L. Godwin (Kelli) and Greg Stone all of Sanford; daughters, Kelli S. Beckham (Walter) of Raleigh, and Stephanie S. Wilson (Robert) of Sanford; one brother, Buddy V. Godwin (Cindy) of Sanford; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Gulf Presbyterian Church, 1253 Gulf Rd, Goldston, NC 27252.
