Charlotte M. Hohenstein, 93, born on December 8, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and community involvement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hohenstein, and her close friend, Mary Louise Matthews.
A proud graduate of Temple University, Charlotte earned her master’s in education in 1961, reflecting her lifelong passion for learning. She excelled in softball as a pitcher for a professional softball team in the 1040s’, showcasing her strong love for sports. In 1981, Charlotte made Sanford her home, drawn by the vibrant golfing community in Carolina Trace. She became an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where her melodious voice enriched the church choir. Additionally, Charlotte was a talented artist, participating in the Brush and Palette Club and creating many unique paintings that will be cherished by those who knew her. Charlotte had a profound love for travel, with her favorite adventure being a memorable trip to Germany.
She leaves behind her beloved cat, Jazzy, and dear friends, Val Bianca, Dr. Joann Bowman, and Faye Schulz, who will miss her dearly.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Westfield, Liberty Hospice, and her dedicated caregivers, Susan Johns, Marcy Wood, and Dora, for their unwavering kindness, support, and compassionate care.
Charlotte’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. She will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and indomitable spirit.
