Clara Lee Hare Fields, 90, formerly of Sanford, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at her home at Brighton Gardens of Winston-Salem.
Mrs. Fields, born in Asheboro, was a daughter of the late Myrtle Rose Hare and Boyd Right Hare. Following her marriage to Ralph Herbert Fields, they resided in Sanford for 60 years. Mrs. Fields was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Following her retirement from the insurance industry, she also served as church hostess. After relocating to Winston-Salem, she joined Knollwood Baptist Church. She relished planning, preparing, and sharing meals with family and friends; participating in her women’s circle and garden club; and playing in various bridge clubs.
Preceded in death by her husband and her sisters, Mozelle Allred and Barbara Ann Merrill, Mrs. Fields is survived by daughters Beth Fields of Winston-Salem, and Suzanne Jones and husband Chuck of Burns, TN.
The family wants to thank the dedicated staff at Brighton Gardens for the wonderful care that they provided for Ralph and Clara Lee over the past three years.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2021 at First Baptist Church.
