Dolores Holt Butner “Lorrie” was born Ella Dolores Holt on August 9,1951, at the old Sanford Hospital to the late Jimmy Bryant Holt and Helen Coggins Holt. She was a good student attending Jonesboro Heights Elementary School and played the clarinet at Greenwood High School where she graduated in 1969. She married Ronnie Stone in 1969 and on April 7,1970, they had a son-Kevin. Lorrie and Ronnie divorced amicably in the early 80s and she married the late James “Jimmy” Michael Butner and on December 7,1982, her baby boy Nicholas James Butner “Nick” was born. Lorrie always was a family oriented person who strived to maintain close relationships with her parents and grandparents while they were alive and she always enjoyed visiting them for weekly Sunday dinner.
Lorrie had a strong work ethic that included taking care of others working as a CNA at various rest homes in the area over the years including the one she would eventually live in. Lorrie faced many hardships in life dealing with mental health challenges and later in life physical health issues dealing with mobility but she persevered and strove to maintain her relationships with her siblings by telephone several times each week. Her life changed when Jimmy passed in 2012 and Kevin and Krystal stepped in to assist with things and she teamed up with Nick to take on this world together. When Nick passed away in an automobile accident unexpectedly in 2020 Lorrie’s heart was broken but she pushed on and his former bossman and friend Mike Anderson stepped up and put her in a cozy travel trailer on his property building her a covered “smoking deck” and he carted her around to Dr appointments and shopping trips galore! God really knew what he was doing when he sent Mike!
Kevin and Krystal and their daughters would take Lorrie out to eat and shopping and it was always an adventure! She loved to eat and ride and always jumped at the chance to go! Lorrie’s mobility issues took a turn for the worse when she fell in September 2023 which set in motion her transition to Peak Resources Pinelake in Carthage where she spent the last 15 months of her life. Lorrie wheeled about the hallways and rooms making friends and meeting people and while it was quite different it did offer people to talk to and activities to do. She especially looked forward to playing Bingo and would call Kevin as soon as it was over telling him what she had won and who she wanted to give her winnings to- she was selfless to the end… Lorrie had very little in physical possessions herself and the only means to get things was to win them at Bingo yet she wanted to give what she had to make their lives better. She was tickled to meet both of her brand new great grandsons and enjoyed building a relationship with her oldest Grandson Kincaid who would visit her and bring her goodies to eat as well as his home cooked beans and greens. He joked with her just like his Daddy and she ate it up giving it right back!
Dolores is survived by her son Kevin Stone (Krystal), sisters Carole and Pam, brothers Eddie (Diane) and Ronnie (Jean). Grandkids Kincaid, Avery, Sierra, Chloe, Payton and two great grandsons Hudson and Maverick.
The family would like to thank staff working Thanksgiving night at Pine Lake that took special care of her while she was having her medical emergency as well as the staff at Moore Regional ER and ICU as they went to great lengths to help her in her final time here on earth.
