Donald Eugene Strange

CMSGT Donald Eugene Strange, US Air Force Retired, 71 of Sanford passed away Sunday January 10, 2022. Graveside services will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Friday January 14th at 12:00 pm.

Mr. Strange was born in Hazel Dell, IL, son of the late Elsworth Strange and Stella Yelton Strange. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers John Strange and Charles Strange; sister Edie Brandenburg.

Mr. Strange was a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was a combat veteran serving in Vietnam as an aircraft electrician and Desert Storm as an air weapons controller. He was a member of the VFW and the Western Harnett Lions Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many activities within his Carolina Lakes community.

Mr. Strange is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Hayter Strange; sister Helen Wade (Jim); brother Kenneth Strange (Hazel); sisters-in-law Jamie Hockaday (Jon), Kay Strange, and Nancy Greer (Eddie); brother-in-law Bill Brandenburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00-4:00 pm at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home. COVID 19 guidelines will be followed, and facial coverings are requested.
