Dorothy Stevens

Dorothy Womble Stevens, 99 of Sanford passed away Friday April 5, 2024. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday April 12, 2024, at Broadway Town Cemetery.

Mrs. Stevens was born in Moncure daughter of the late George Moody Womble and Maude Odell Hearn Womble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Layton M. Stevens, a son, Robert G. “Bob” Stevens, and siblings, George Womble and Ruby Scott and Nancy Crocker. Mrs. Stevens was a graduate of CCTI (now CCCC) earning her LPN working with Convalescent Center of Lee County for many years. For many years Dorothy attended Congregational Christian Church, and enjoyed antiques and had an antique store on Carthage Street for several years.

Mrs. Stevens is survived by sons, Jerry Stevens (June) of Cameron and George Stevens (JoAnn) of Durham; Mary Jane Stevens Newton (Charles) of New York; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
