On Saturday September 14, 2024, following a lengthy illness, Dorothy Garner Withers stepped gently into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dorothy was born in Moore County on February 7, 1933 to the late William Marion and Nina Hall Garner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leroy, and siblings William Garner, Agnes Martin, Robert Garner, Hazel Black, Teddy Garner and Peggy Patterson.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon Brewer (Joe), grandson Joseph Brewer, all of Sanford, granddaughter Katy Key (Gunnar) and great grandchild, Lydian, of Hamptonville. Also surviving are siblings Wanda Hinson (Hubert) of Jackson Springs, Joyce Bobbitt (Oscar) of Niagara, Neil Garner (Pearl) of Carthage and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a seamstress by trade and a homemaker by heart. A lover of nature and sunshine, “Granny” would often be found outside working in her flower garden or vegetable patch. Though her body failed her these last few years, she was blessed with a sound mind and a quick wit until the end. Her love of God’s beauty was only surpassed by her love for her family and friends.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Westfield Rehabilitation Center, Kari Spencer, NP and the Liberty Hospice team; each and every one, you were Mom’s angels here on earth.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday (09/17/2024) at Leaflet Presbyterian Church, 7830 McDougald Rd. Broadway, NC.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.” Rev 21:4
