Dr. Robert Cline died Saturday, November 26th, at The Village of Brookwood, Burlington, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Yount Cline. He is survived by his four children, Dara (and Jim) Linn, Phillip (and Alice) Cline, Mark (and Sandy) Cline and Caroline (and David) Broughton, eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
His educational experiences took him to Chapel Hill, NC, Charleston, SC and New Orleans, LA. He did family medicine in Warrenton, NC and Sanford, NC. Taking early retirement from Sanford Medical Group in 1988, he went on to provide medical services with migrant farm clinics, military dependents clinics, U. S. Indian Health Service clinics and overseas medical missions to Ecuador and Jamaica.
He was very active in many medical organizations and a volunteer in local organizations until moving to Burlington, NC in 2009. Throughout his life, he was active in church related organizations.
His achievements in volunteerism have led to numerous awards: Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce Citizenship Award in 1993; Rotarian of the Year, 1996, the Sanford Herald Citizen of the year, 2003; N.C. Medical Society Physician Community Service Award 2005; Margaret Hart Hardee Preeminence in Aging Award 2007 from the N.C. department of Aging and Adult Services.
He celebrated his life with worldwide traveling with his wife, Martha, for the sights, sounds and study of different cultures, peoples and religions. His leisure time was filled with UNC-CH sports, stamp collecting, family genealogy, watercolor painting, art, hiking, biking, kayaking, and reading. A great deal of pleasure and satisfaction was derived in activities with the children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday December 10, 2022, at 11am. the family will receive friends from 12:30-2:30pm following the service at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will be by private ceremony in the columbarium at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to either the Helping Fund of the Enrichment Center, 1615 S. Third Street, Sanford, NC 27330, the CCCC Foundation, Inc., 1105 Kelly Drive, Sanford, NC 27330, or to a charity of choice.
