Edith Mae Yost

Edith Mae Jones Yost, 97 of Carthage passed away Monday February 3rd, 2020.

Mae was born on August 28, 1922 while her mother and father were abroad in England visiting family.  After returning to the United States, she was raised in Washington Mills, New York and as an adult she became a United States citizen.

She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Jones and Father, Robert Jones, her sister, Florence Jones, her brothers, Robert and Edward Jones and grandson, Michael Huff.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlane Huff of North Carolina, her grandson Brian Huff (Maria) of St. Charles, IL and 6 great grandchildren (Jeffrey, Danielle, Christina, Caitlin, Brandon & Ashley), and 2 great, great grandchildren (Avery and Aria) and several nieces and nephews.

Mae spent the majority of her adult years in Ithaca, New York where she worked in the office of Morse Chain/Borg Warner until retiring after 42 years.  Mae was loved by everyone, she was extremely generous and loved her friends and family unconditionally.   In 1999 she moved to North Carolina to live with her daughter.

Mae was very active right up to 92 years of age, going to the gym three days a week until she fell and eventually was diagnosed with dementia.  She then moved to an assisted living facility, Tara Plantation, in Carthage, North Carolina where she resided for 2-1/2 years until she passed away due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Mae requested that there be no services.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica, NY at a future date.
