Elga Hardee Russ

Elga Hardee Russ, 89 of Sanford passed away Sunday July 17, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Thursday at Tramway Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.

She fought a good fight then took a glorious flight to Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday July 17, 2016. Our Mama enjoyed cooking for and watching her family eat. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, working puzzles, taking care of babies in the Church nursery and reading her Bible.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mayo Hardee and Attie Cox Hardee; her husband, James Oliver Russ; brothers, Watis Hardee, and Avery Hardee; sisters, Iris H. Sarvis, Leatis H Smith, Mary H. Fipps, and Vela H. Wood.

Mrs. Russ is survived by daughters,  Scarlett Stone (Steve) Elena Register all of Sanford, Sharlyn Sifford (Garry) of Concord, and Gayle R. Medlin of Ark.; son Sherwin Russ of Hollywood, FL; Grandchildren, Kasey (Eddie) Shook, Timothy (Lindsay) Sifford, and Dara Sifford; great grandchildren, Joshua Shook, Emma Sifford, and Anthony Sifford; niece, Carol Norris and her children that knew her as Grandma; siblings, Joyce Hardee of Loris, SC, Defford Hardee of Creedmore, Doris H. Piver of Tabor City, Carolyn H. Edwards of Rockhill, SC, and Mildred Russ; several nieces and nephews.  

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home.
