Ernestine Hancock Coley

Ernestine Hancock Coley, 79, of Sanford passed away on Saturday (12/9/23). Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday (12/12/23) at Sanford Church of God. Burial will follow in Pocket Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Coley was born in Chatham County to the late Roland Hancock and Ruby Johnson Hancock. She was a talented seamstress who did alternations both privately and for Twin City Cleaners. She loved the Lord, going to church, antiques and especially her kids and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Cliffton Coley; son Timothy James Coley; granddaughter Jennifer Coggins Grainger; twin sister Geraldine H. Vesalga; and brother Roland Mack Hancock.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Coley Coggins (Tim) of Sanford; son Michael Thomas Coley (Sonnie) of Sanford; daughter Angela Coley Saunders of Sanford; grandchildren Tyler Coley, Josh Saunders, Cameron Saunders, Madison Saunders, Ethan Coley, Cole Cummings and Nathan Coley; 5 great grandchildren; and sisters Helen H. Woody of Goldston and Brenda H. Goodwin of Sanford.

Family will receive friends starting at 1pm at Sanford Church of God on Tuesday (12/12/23) before the service.
