Esther Ann Teague Siler passed away at the age of 94 on 02/03/2025 gently in her sleep.
She spent her last days surrounded by her family and the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on June 25th, 1930, on a farm in Chatham County, NC. Her parents were Lonnie David and Pearl Buckner Teague. She had six brothers. She is survived by one brother, Clyde Teague (Alice Sue) of Asheboro, NC.
She was a standout basketball player in High School. She was offered basketball and academic scholarships at Duke University but could not take advantage of the opportunity. Hal Siler spotted her at one of her high school basketball games while he was home on leave from WWII. They married and raised three children through their 69-year marriage: Judy Siler Boyette (Rick) of Smithfield, David Siler (Gwen) of Sanford, and Tom Siler of High Point, NC. In addition, Esther is survived by six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren (plus another on its way), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a long-time First Baptist Church of Sanford member, serving her church family in many roles. Her career was in banking (eight years) and Vocational Rehabilitation (25 years).
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday February 5th at First Baptist Church. The family will receive guests beginning at 10:00 am in the Fellowship Hall. The burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
