Floyd R. Caviness

Floyd R. Caviness, 92 of Sanford passed away Thursday August 8, 2024. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024, at 2pm at Cool Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends starting at 1pm before the service.

Mr. Caviness was born in Chatham Co, a son of the late James Lern Caviness Sr and Bessie Ann Hilliard Caviness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Stephenson Caviness, son Peter Bell Caviness; siblings, Calvin Caviness, Mary Shoppe, Rosie Neal Bertha Mozelle Caviness, and Beulah Mae Hicks. Mr. Caviness was a Veteran of the US Air Force and the retired Fire Chief of the Sanford Fire Department. 

Mr. Caviness is survived by his daughter, Donna Moore of Sanford; grandson Steve Freeman (Shannon) of Sanford; great grandson, Asher; brothers, George Caviness (Josette) and James Caviness (Martha) both of Sanford; sisters, Carolyn C Litz (Larry) of VA and Gracie Zimmerman (Jerry) of High Point.
