Frances Johanna Coggin

Frances Johanna Gaskins Coggin, 72, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Hay Street United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, NC, on Saturday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro.

Fancy was born in Fayetteville on September 22, 1946, and graduated summa cum laude from Greensboro College in 1968. She served as Director of Christian Education at Hay Street UMC, as a claims representative and hearing recorder with Social Security, and as a faithful volunteer for a countless number of organizations. Her life was dedicated to serving others – family, friends, and strangers. Those she touched with her love, humor, and grace will always remember her as an exemplar of unbounded Christian love.

Mrs. Coggin is preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances Gaskins, and her step-father Louis Davis and wife Margaret. She is survived by her husband Thomas; son John; step-son Eddie and wife Jackie; sister Jackie Donohoe and husband Charley; sister Tana Lawrence and husband Bob; brother Karl Gaskins and wife Tudi; and many loving nieces and nephews. Her family is grateful for the support from a wide network of friends, and especially Liberty Hospice, as she approached the end of her life.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the home of Albert and Sylvia Adcock, 1414 Gormly Circle, Sanford, and on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Hay Street UMC.
