Gary Howard Cox

Gary Howard Cox, 74, of Sanford passed away Saturday January 22, 2022. A graveside service will be held Thursday January 27, 2022 at Center United Methodist Church at 3pm.

Mr. Cox was born in Lee County to the late John Paul Cox and Kathleen Cummings Cox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepmother Sara Cox.

Gary was a proud business owner of Air Scrubbers Inc and served in the United States Air Force. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family. He was an avid animal lover, always taking in a stray. He was a member at Life Springs Church where he volunteered as a youth leader. After retirement he enjoyed spending his time at his family homestead where his passion was restoring his grandfather’s barn.

He is survived by his wife Susan Furr Cox; children John Thomas Cox (Carrie), Jason Howard Cox (Mandy), and Ashley Cox Harrington (Brian); grandchildren Maggie Cox DiTullio (Ethan), Madison Cox Swart (Eric), Colleton Goehagan, Abbey Cox, Alexandria Cox, Jake Cox, and Shepard Harrington; great grandchildren Liam, Maverick, and Charlotte Swart; and sisters Beverly Cranford (Mike) and Paula Rogers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday Jan 26 from 5 - 7 PM at the family home.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a local animal charity of one’s choice, or Life Springs Church 3215 Keller-Andrews Rd, Sanford, NC 27330, or to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
