Gladys Fields Weaver, 99, of Sanford passed away peacefully on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 13 at First Presbyterian Church in Sanford. The family will receive friends after the service in the church colonnade. Prior to the memorial service, a committal service will be held at Buffalo Cemetery at 11 am.
Gladys was a life-long resident of Sanford. She retired from Heins Telephone company in 1984 after 35 years of service. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
Gladys is survived by her grandson John Finley Lloyd of Lexington, NC, his wife Dorielle Stanfield Lloyd and their son Frankie Lloyd. She is also survived by her granddaughter Karen Grayson Lloyd of Knoxville, TN, her husband Andrew Decker Steen, and their daughters Clara Grayson Steen and Mary Jon Decker Steen. In addition to her many dear, loving friends in Sanford, Gladys is survived by her faithful friend Larry Rappl of New Hill, NC.
Gladys is preceded in death by her son Franklin Lamont Lloyd, daughter Mary Jon Lloyd Herman, brother John (Jack) Fields, husband Fred Weaver, and parents Mary and John Fields.
The family would like to acknowledge the loving care Gladys has received from her friends in her last years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 203 Hawkins Avenue, Sanford, North Carolina 27330.
