Grace Virginia Hardy Campbell passed away peacefully at Parkview Retirement on December 2nd, 29 days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was born on December 31st, 1927 to James and Clara Hardy in Sanford, N.C. where she was raised and spent her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Jake and Tommy Hardy, a granddaughter, Crystal Diane Campbell, a son, Barron Jay Campbell and recently her husband and soulmate, William Rosser Campbell. Surviving are her sons, Randy Campbell and wife Pat, Robby Campbell and wife Colleen, her daughter, Gayemell Shepherd and husband, Dale. She was ‘Mama Grace” to 9 grandchildren whom she loved deeply, Kymberly Eckard (Joe), Christopher Campbell, Chan Campbell (Ashley), Joey Campbell (Erin), Lin Campbell, Logan Saponaro (Ben), Ashlyn Tilley, Rosser Tilley and Talmadge Shepherd and five great grandchildren.
Grace, also known as “Amazing Grace” was met with numerous challenges as she lost her vision over the years, beginning in her childhood. She persevered “gracefully” through them all. She rarely complained about her condition. She had a special spirit and force that superseded all titles. She lit inspirational torches that will burn for generations. She was able to hear and feel the beauty in things she was unable to see. She loved to laugh & hers was contagious. She loved the beach, the sound of birds, children’s voices playing in the park at Seven Lakes. She loved all holidays but especially Christmas. She played in the snow with the passion of a child. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing Bridge and travelling. She proudly raised a family of four children with great love and devotion, alongside Rosser. Over the years, many friends of Randy, Robby, Barron and Gayemell were frequently in and out of their house. Grace welcomed and embraced them all. They loved her dearly and often visited she and Rosser throughout the years.
Grace possessed a strong and unwavering faith which she relied on daily, to meet her challenges. She and Rosser were long standing members of the Christian Science Church.
Though saddened by her passing, her family rejoices in her being in the mighty presence of God, seeing the beauty of Heaven and being reunited with her Heavenly loved ones. She and Rosser are dancing together, once again!
