Hilda Paderick

Hilda Sermons Paderick, 84, of Southern Pines, formerly of Clinton, died peacefully Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Joseph of Pines Health Center.  

The service will be held at Belle Meade Chapel in Southern Pines, NC on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 3:00 pm.  

Hilda was preceded in death by her loving husband Clifton Waldo Paderick and her parents Virgil and Helen Sermons.  She is survived by her son Rick Paderick and wife Bunny of Sanford, and daughter Elizabeth Hardee of Wilmington; three grandchildren Tripp Paderick and wife Mallory, Murphy Paderick and wife Jordan, and James Hardee and wife Erin; and five great grandchildren, Sawyer, Mary Charles, Addie James, Parker, and Grayson.

Hilda was born and raised in Craven County, NC.  She married her beloved husband on June 28, 1959.  After the early years living in Chapel Hill and Kinston, they settled in Clinton, NC, where they lived for most of their marriage.  They were active members of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church and several clubs in the Clinton area.

Hilda and Clif were avid bridge players traveling the state participating in various tournaments.  Hilda obtained her ACBL Ruby Life Master in bridge in October 2023.

Hilda moved to Belle Meade Independent Living Community in 2013 following soon after the death of Clifton.  She enjoyed the many friends she made there until her death.

Hilda will truly be missed, but she passed peacefully, excited to rejoin Clifton and meet her Lord.
