James Edward Bullard

James Edward Bullard Jr., of Sanford, died Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at First Health Hospice House in Moore County, with his wife by his side. 

James was born on February 11, 1952, in Sanford, NC to James Edward Bullard Sr. and Eula Cole Willett (Bullard). James was the oldest of four children. James was proud to be a part of the Greenwood School- Class of 1970. 

James was well-known in the community as the co-owner of Carolina Sporting Goods Inc., located in downtown Sanford (1996-2003).  James enjoyed coaching his daughter and countless other young ladies in Lee County Parks and Recreation softball for many years. 

James retired from Roadway Express in 2018. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs, watching NASCAR racing with his buddy “Lil Al” and spending time with his grandchildren.

James is survived by his wife Evelyn, three children, three grandchildren, two sisters, and one brother. James and Evelyn met and were married on August 7, 1982. James’ oldest daughter, LeAnne (Adrianne) Wildomar, California. His son, Johnathan (Maci) Sanford, NC and daughter, Caseie (Chris) Sanford, NC.  Grandchildren are Karli, Barrett, and Callen aka “Bubba”. Siblings, Gail (Ben) Griffin, Alvin Bullard, and Lisa (Mitchell) Strickland, all of Sanford. 

A graveside service has been planned for 11:00 am Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Grace Chapel Cemetery. 

The family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to LaWanda (RN), “Teco” (Tecosha, Nurse Aid) and the entire staff at First Health Hospice. Also, to nurses Charlotte, Lorraine and all the other staff at First Health Hospice House- Thank you for being so kind to James and our family. We are so very thankful for each one of you.
