Janet Duty

Janet Louise Saunders Duty, 84 of Sanford passed away Sunday June 6, 2021. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday at St Luke United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Buffalo cemetery. Mrs. Duty was born in Yadkin Co daughter of the late James Nelson Saunders and Laura Hutchins Saunders. She was preceded in death by siblings, Charles Saunders and Peggy Byrd. Janet was a retired nurse and loved to travel. She lived in Oklahoma and Florida for many years and upon the birth of her grandchildren she decided it was time to move back to Sanford. Mrs. Duty is survived by her husband of 40 years, David Pender Duty; son Ricky Darrell McNeill of Sanford; daughter, Lisa McNeill Wilson (Neil) of Sanford; step-children, David Dwight Duty (Donna) of Cary and Donna Faye Moffitt (Tom) of Wilmington; her brother, L.B. “Pete” Saunders (Dottie) of Sanford; grandchildren, Lauren Wilson Godwin (Jordan Ezra Godwin) of Wilmington and Hannah Elizabeth Wilson of Holly Ridge; great grandson, Ezra Neil Godwin. The family will greet friends following the memorial service in the Perry Foyer at St Luke.
