Janet Rose Riley

Born August 12th 1950 in Fort Campbell Kentucky, Janet Riley died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the University of North Carolina Health Care in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Janet's death followed a valiant fight to overcome injuries sustained in a fall on December 24, 2016. Janet is predeceased by her parents Helen J. and Harry T. Riley.

Janet is survived by sister, Nancy Wileden and brother in law Al Wileden of Winter Springs, Florida as well as sister Michiele Elliott and brother in law Preston Elliott of Sanford, NC. Also mourning Janet's passing is her three nieces, one nephew, two grandnieces and many close friends.

A lifelong learner, Janet earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida and her juris doctorate from the University of Miami. Janet used her legal expertise and passion to serve the homeless and low income residents of Broward County. Through her work as a housing attorney with Legal Aid Service of Broward County and her efforts with the Homeless Coalition she sought to assure safe affordable housing for everyone. Janet was a committed Christian and student of the Bible. Her many friends in South Florida filled her life and her days with love, laughter and friendship.

A service celebrating Janet's life will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 at 6:30 pm at North Creek Presbyterian Church 4601 NW 71st Place, Coconut Creek Florida. 33073.
