Janet Dixon Smith

Janet Dixon Smith, 88 of Sanford passed away Sunday December 5, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 1pm Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church cemetery.


Mrs. Smith was born in Halifax Co, a daughter of the late Willie Thomas Dixon and Willie Margaret Beale. She was preceded in death by siblings, Virginia Joyner (JD), Mary Joyce Harrel (Joe), William Dixon (Edna), and Alfred Dixon (Helen).

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, John Walter “Jim” Smith Jr; Sons, Howard Evans (Jackie), and Bryan Lee Evans; siblings, James Thomas Dixon, Charles Linwood Dixon (Patricia), and Margaret Anne Francis (James); three grandchildren, Michael Evans (Debra), Brandon Evans, and Jennifer Datus Yarborough (Haston); ten great grandchildren, Parker Evans, Maci Evans, Landon Baucom (Ting), Aaron Baucom (Erin), Brant Datus, Maxwell Datus, Ian Datus, Cale Yarborough, Brandon Evans Jr, Jeremy Evans and Kevin Evans.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, very active in her Church and enjoyed singing with the young at hearts singers. They blessed a lot of people in the neighborhood.

The family gives a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Liberty Commons, the administrations staff, nursing staff, and physical therapy staff.

The family will greet friends following the graveside service.
