John Max Walker

John Max Walker, 88, of Sanford passed away Sunday July 21, 2024. Memorial services planned for a later date.

John was born in Concord NC to the late Woodrow Walker and Margaret Kennerly Walker. In his early years he was an outstanding athlete and truly loved sports. He spent many years playing, coaching, and officiating. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for coaching in both Oklahoma and North Carolina. He remained active in senior games until recently. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Walker.

He is survived by his children Mitzi W. Barber (Mike), Max Walker, and Mike Walker (Beth); and grandchildren Kennedy Barber Martorano (Todd), Chase Barber, Jonathan Walker, Mackenzie Walker Steele (Cody), Clayton Walker, and Collin Walker.
