Joseph Flynn Edwards

Joseph Flynn “Joe” Edwards, 84 of Sanford peacefully passed away Wednesday February 19, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, Feb 23rd, at Cameron Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards was born in Cameron, son of the late Eugene Edwards and Ola Flynn Edwards. He was preceded in death by siblings, Greer Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards Brown, and Kathleen Edwards Deaton. Joe retired from CP&L, now Duke Energy, with 33 years of working at the Moncure Cape Fear Plant. He was a member of Cameron United Methodist Church, and a 1959 graduate of Cameron High School.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Cockman Edwards; daughter, Kathy E. Yarborough (Freddie) of Sanford; son Mark Edwards (Terri) of Woodstock, GA; grandson, Cameron Joseph Yarborough of Morrisville; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
