Joseph Phillip "Phil" Burns

Joseph Phillip “Phil” Burns, 71 of Sanford passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019. A Memorial service will be held at 2pm Tuesday at Cumnock Union Church, United Methodist.

Mr. Burns was born in Sanford, NC son of the late Joseph Burch Burns and Eleanor Poe Burns.

Phil is survived by his wife of 52 years Lois Matthews Burns; son Jonathan Burns (Amy) of Sanford; daughter Shannon Burns (Melissa) of Winston Salem; grandchildren Brandon Burns and fiancé (Traci) of High Point and Phillip Burns (Mayra) of Cameron; great grandchildren Greyson and Baby Burns on the way; brother Steve (Sarah) of  Monroe;  sister Lola Clark of Sanford.

Phil was a Volunteer fireman, served in the US Army, owner of Buds BBQ in Cumnock. He was fond of music had a Band (Circle of Friends), a good friend and helper in the community also in his younger days loved going Bowling with friends.

The family will have a visitation at the Church beginning at 1pm Tuesday prior to the service.
