LaFay Stewart Pickard

LaFay Stewart Pickard, 84, of Sanford passed away Sunday October 30, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday November 6, 2022, at Shallow Well Church at. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

Mrs. Pickard was born in Harnett Co. to the late Talbott McNeill Stewart and Laura Ellen Sloan Stewart.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William T. “Tommy” Pickard Sr. and her brother Cyrus Franklin Stewart. She worked for many years at Maxway in the Insurance & Documentation Dept. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and playing golf.

She is survived by her children, Michelle DeLoria Iavarone of Jupiter FL, Sydney DeLoria of Ramseur, NC, and Phillip DeLoria (Tammy) of Palm Bay, FL; grandchildren Renee Zayas (Daniel), Cara Iavarone (Joe), David Iavarone (Maria), Jason Swann, Nathan Swann, and Sara DeLoria; stepchildren Karen P. Antis of Wilmington, Gaye P. Galyon (Jim) of Greensboro, and William T. Pickard Jr. (Dawn) of Sanford; step grandchildren Carson Antis, Parker Antis, J.D. Galyon, Dan Galyon, Dare Pickard, Anah Pickard, and Larken Pickard; great grandchildren Elijah, Elliot, Oliver, Peyton, and Brie; sister in law, Margie D. Stewart of Lillington.

The family will receive friends stating at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Church Parlor.
