Larry C Jackson

Larry Cecil Jackson, 78, of Sanford passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 22nd at White Hill Presbyterian Church in Sanford. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mr. Jackson was born in Lee County, North Carolina, a son of the late Garrie Leland Jackson and Lottie Mae Creech Jackson. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Annette Jackson Hayes, Waylon Mitchell Jackson, and Leland Hubert Jackson; sister-in-law, Barbara Jackson; brother-in-law; Edward Hayes; and father-in-law; Howard Conder.

Larry was a lifelong and active member of White Hill Presbyterian Church, where he served in numerous capacities. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and an avid Wolfpack supporter. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was an owner of Carolina Aquatech Pools in Sanford and sold Christmas trees for many years at Jackson Brothers Produce. In retirement he volunteered with the Christians United Outreach Center (CUOC) and Highway to Healing in Sanford. He grew up on the Jackson family tobacco farm, and later loved planting and tending his vegetable garden every year, even though he would give away most of the produce to his daughters-in-law and others. He often organized, and always attended, the numerous Jackson extended family gatherings at Two Ponds in White Hill. Most of all, he loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, and other activities.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna Conder Jackson; sons, John Christopher Jackson (Jill) of Raleigh and Larry Matthew Jackson (Jessica) of Sanford; brother, Daniel Garrie Jackson (Jean) of Sanford; sisters-in-law, Judy Jackson, Ann Apple (Ronnie), and Sharon Gordon; mother-in-law, Ruth Conder of Sanford; grandchildren Luke Jackson and Kate Jackson of Sanford and Margaret Jackson and Oscar Jackson of Raleigh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 21st from 3:00 until 5:00 pm at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home in Sanford.
