Lillian Mae Sessoms

Lillian Mae Morris Sessoms, 90, of Sanford passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Sanford First Pentecostal Holiness Church at 2:30pm. The family will receive friends starting at 1pm before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.

Lillian was born October 5th, 1934, in Checotah (Pierce), Oklahoma, to the late John William Morris and Ina Isabelle Gray. She was a graduate of Yukon High School, and attended Southwestern Bible College in Oklahoma City, OK. She loved to get involved in school activities. She was a Thespian Society member and played every team sport women were offered at the time. She continued playing league softball after college for more than a decade. Lillian met Raymond Lee Sessoms at Southwestern Bible College, and they married in 1956 and moved to his hometown of Sanford, NC. Lillian’s professional career included working at Barker Brokerage Company, The Sanford Herald, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Inc., and BB&T Bank. Lillian was a faithful member of Sanford First Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School classes and enjoyed the music ministry as Choir director, soloist, and with many vocal groups throughout the years. Lillian was so very proud of her children and grandchildren, and she never let distance diminish her love and care for her siblings and their families in Oklahoma. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; and siblings Jack Morris, Ralph Morris, Burl Morris, Edith Morris Pechacek, Pauline Morris Pippins, and James Thrasher.

She is survived by her daughter Maria Sessoms Feldman (Paul); son Mark Wayne Sessoms (Anna); grandchildren Aaron Sessoms, Crystal Feldman Lorbacher (Jack), Benjamin Feldman (Marcia), and Camden Feldman (Ella); great grandchildren Elena, Grant, Zoey, Annabelle, and Camden Jr.; brother Thomas “Johnny” Cox; and many nieces and nephews.
