Margaret Gordon

Margaret Gail Phillips Gordon, 83, of Sanford passed away on December 24, 2024. A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 28, 2024, at 2:30pm at Sanford Church, burial following at Gulf Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 1pm at the church.

Margaret was a doting grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved the beach and visited her little cottage at Oak Island as much as possible, usually with her grandchildren in tow! She enjoyed shopping and was proud of all bargains found. She was a wonderful dancer and loved beach music and shag dancing. One of her greatest passions was tennis and she played frequently until an injury ended her ability to play. She was a founding member of the Lee County Tennis Association. She attended Sanford Church and was a lifelong member of Gulf Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Horace Greeley Phillips and Bessie Sarah Phillips; and siblings Bill Phillips, Robert Phillips, Paul Phillips, Mack Phillips, Ted Phillips, Joe Phillips, John Lacy Phillips, Helen Maunder and Geneva Lovell.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William Elvin Gordon; daughter Sonia Gordon Beasley and husband Wayne of Fuquay-Varina NC; son Scott Gordon of Rockingham NC, and grandchildren Lacey Beasley, Courtney Beasley, Alyssa Parsons, Garrett Gordon, Jeremy Gordon, and Ellie Gordon.
