Margaret Taylor

Margaret Smith Taylor, 78 of Sanford passed away Tuesday morning May 8, 2018. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00pm Thursday at Sandy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Harnett Co, daughter of the late Roy Smith and Rosa Banton Smith. She worked at the Sanford Herald as an Inserter for many years and loved caring for her grandchildren. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip “Larry” Taylor; brothers, Richard Smith, Junior Smith, Percy Lee Smith, Billy Smith, Herman Smith, Jesse Smith and Clarence Smith.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by daughters, Brenda T. Upchurch and husband Al of Broadway, and Karen T. Wilkins and husband Russ of Bear Creek; sons, Phillip Taylor of Raleigh and Chris Taylor of Sanford; seven grandchildren, Taylor Upchurch (Kaitlyn), Amanda Cowan (Dan), Matthew Wilkins (Evan), Abby Wilkins, James Taylor (Amy), Heather Neal (Patrick), and Joshua Taylor; seven great grandchildren.

The family will greet friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Cemetery Fund at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, 537 Willis Dunn Rd, Bear Creek, NC 27207.  

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carolina Dialysis, and the staff of ICU at Central Carolina Hospital.
