Margie R. Goins

Margie Roener Goins passed away on June 3, 2023 after a courageous struggle with cancer. Margie was the youngest child of the late Robert Lee Goins Jr and Mossie McIntyre Goins.  She was preceded in death by siblings Anthony Goins, Rosey Mae Goins, George Goins and Glenn Goins.  She is survived by her brother James Goins. 

Margie grew up on South Plank Road where she continued to live until a few years ago.  She received her education at Greenwood School and Central Carolina Community College.  She faithfully helped care for her parents and older brother George as their health declined.  She later applied these same skills to help others by working as an in-home aide.  She also worked at The Sanford Herald for several years where she made many friends. 

In her retirement, she resided at Sandhills Manor Apartments and enjoyed spending time at the Enrichment Center.

Margie attended Center United Methodist Church from childhood and was a devoted member.  She was supported by many church members as she battled her illness.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 6 at 2 PM at Center UMC, 4141 S. Plank Rd. Sanford, NC.  Friends may pay respects at Rogers-Pickard from 9 AM – 11:30 AM on Tuesday morning or at the church beginning at 1 PM.
