Marie Stone Gunter

Marie Stone Gunter, 91 of Sanford passed away Wednesday March 20, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday (3/24/2024) at Pocket Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Gunter was born in Durham Co a daughter of the late Mattie Stone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ray Gunter, her daughter, Audrey G. Beachler, and her brother Carl Dewey Stone. Marie was a longtime member of Pocket Presbyterian Church and the Pocket Circle. For many years Marie worked at Macks Dime Store and later at First Presbyterian Day Care and then with Grace Christian Day Care. For many years she and her husband Ray worked the Nursery at St Luke United Methodist Church’s 11:00 am service.

Mrs. Gunter is survived by her son, Glenn Ray Gunter II and his wife Pam; grandchildren Noah Gunter, Haley Gunter, Theresa Johnsen and Ryan Beachler; great- grandsons Ryan Beachler, Jr., William Ray Beachler,  Hudson Ryder Beachler, Jack Wyatt Johnsen, and Colton James Johnsen.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
