Marty Faircloth Foushee, 71 of Sanford passed away Thursday June 23, 2022, at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday July 9, 2022 in the Wesley Center at Jonesboro United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends begining at 10:00 am before the service.
Marty was born in Sanford, son of the late C. Graydon Foushee and Helen Hart Foushee and Marvin Faircloth Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Brooks Davis Clark, and his stepmother, Theta N. Foushee. He worked in the family business of Sanford Produce Co for years, then he went to Delaware with his dad Marvin Faircloth. In 1996 he went to work with US Foods and retired in December 2018. Retirement really was not Marty’s thing, so he returned to the workforce working parttime with Tarheel Distributors from 2019 until 2021, retiring yet again.
He loved the outdoors, fishing in both salt and fresh waters and spending time with his family. Marty was seen around Sanford daily going in and out of restaurants and businesses taking their food orders for the week. Marty had a big smile, infectious laugh, kind heart, and always took time to speak to anyone he came in contact with.
Marty is survived by his wife, Michelle Womack Foushee; his children, Katherine Foushee Smith (Les), Sarah F. Patterson (Ryan) and Phillip Martin Foushee; grandchildren Olivia, Maggy, Reece, Rylan, Addison, Carson, and Levi; sisters, Nancy Foushee Pajdo (Marc) and Jane Foushee Stewart; stepchildren Megan Clark (Davis) and Hannah Calicutt (Swane); niece Tiffany Hayes (Rob); and nephews Matthew Stewart (Taylor), and Mitchell Stewart; step brothers, Randall Gattis (Susan) and Larry Gattis (Stephanie).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Breadbasket of Sanford, PO Box 912, Sanford, NC 27331.
