Mary Cummings Bullard Mashburn

Mary Cummings Bullard Mashburn, 88, died peacefully at the home of her beloved niece, Cari Lowry on July 27, 2024, with her family at her bedside. Funeral service will be held on Monday August 5, 2024, at 11am at Cool Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends starting at 10 am before the service.

Mary was born June 23, 1936, in Robeson Co. to the late McDuffie Cummings and Carrie Cummings. 

After marrying her husband, Royal Samuel Bullard, Mary went on to raise her family in Sanford, North Carolina. With steadfast love she nurtured her children, Todd, Kent and Alison. Then she began her journey as a grandmother, attending any grandparents’ day or enthusiastically spectating any sport in which her grandchildren were participating. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. She was a devoted member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by her son, Dr. Todd Bullard (Anne) of Charlotte, North Carolina; her daughter, Alison Jerzembeck (Mike) of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by six grandchildren Laura Bullard (Kayla), Emily Bullard (Andy), Mary Stuart Bullard, Satchel Jerzembeck (Louisa), Isaac Jerzembeck, and Elijah Jerzembeck. Additionally, she is survived by loving sister-in-laws and many precious nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Royal Samuel Bullard; second husband Woodrow B. “Woody” Mashburn, and son Kent Bullard.

Todd and Alison wish to express love and appreciation to Mary’s niece, Cari Lowry for her love and exceptional care for Mary during the final chapter of her life. The family is also grateful for the excellent care provided by Marjorie Harrell and Eve Hewitt, as well as Transitions Lifecare of Hospice in Raleigh.
