Mary Jo Craig

March 7, 1929 — February 5, 2016

Mary Jo Campbell Craig was called home by her loving Lord and Savior Friday February 5, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday February 8, 2016 at Hickory Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Tripp Harmon officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.

                                                        

Mary Jo was born on March 7, 1929 the daughter of Joseph and Pearl Campbell. She was a native of Lee County. After her marriage to Lynn Wilson Craig Sr. they made their home in Siler City where they raised their four children.

 

Mary Jo was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and servant always sacrificing for other’s needs. She was a former member of Loves Creek Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and active with the Women’s Missionary Union. Mary Jo and Wilson returned to Broadway to care for her aging parents. After the death of her parents Mary Jo and Wilson returned to Siler City where she joined Hickory Mountain Baptist Church and served in the prayer ministry. Mary Jo was a great prayer warrior and believed strongly in the power of prayer. One of her many gifts was being a caretaker. She served in this role with the heart of a servant. She was very caring, kind and generous beyond description. Mary Jo was always an encourager and had a smile for everyone she met. Mary Jo retired from Home Interiors and Gifts after 25 years with them. She served as a Director and made many lasting friendships and memories over her 25 years. She loved her “girls” as she called them.

 

Mary Jo is preceded in death by her husband Lynn Wilson Craig Sr., her parents Joseph and Pearl Campbell and son-in-law Jimmy Johnson.

 

She is survived by her, daughter, Sheralyn Johnson Tyndall and husband Allen of Pittsboro; sons, Lynn Craig and wife Phyllis of Florida, Frank Craig and wife Linda of Georgia, Joe Craig and wife Sandy of Siler City; 10 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; 2 great- great grandchildren; one sister Ester Wicker of Sanford and brother Warren Campbell of South Carolina.

 

Memorials may be made to Hickory Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery Fund; 1094 Mt Vernon Hickory Mountain Rd, Siler City 27344.
