Maxie M. (Max) Rouse of 3222 Wicker Street, Sanford passed peacefully away on Friday morning, May 14th after a prolonged illness.
Max was born in December 1928 in Darlington, South Carolina, middle son of Maxie Friserson and Ida Estelle Herring Rouse. Max was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Gordon Leroy and Thomas Madison Rouse.
Max was a proud serviceman, serving in both the US Army and Navy for over 30 years. He served on several ships, one in particular was the USS Northampton, the floating flagship of the White House for President Kennedy. After retiring from military, he began working as a machinist and ended his working career with Magneti Marelli (formerly Carter Weber).
Max was a quiet, gentle, humble man who loved his family and was loved dearly by his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Doris, his children – Kay (Scott) Swindell, Judy (Wayne) Medley, Richard (Cynthia), and Dan (Sheila); brother-in-law Mike (Kathy) McKay: 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care – Southern Pines (Jessica, Lawanda, Audrey, Teresa and Teco) for their compassionate care and support.
Interment services were held at 11:00 am Saturday June 12th at Buffalo Cemetery with US Navy Honors.
