Melanie Kay Spivey Wicker, 66 of Cumnock, passed away Friday December 29, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday at Cumnock Union United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Cumnock Cemetery. Celebration reception to follow burial at the Cumnock Fire Department.
Mrs. Wicker was born in Lee Co daughter of the late Taylor Legrand Spivey and Lucille Burns Spivey and preceded in death by brothers, Joe Spivey and Larry Spivey. Melanie Kay was a lifelong resident of the Cumnock community and often referred to as the un-official Mayor of Cumnock. She met her husband of 49 years at the age of 15 and was married September 6, 1968. She was a member of the Cumnock Union Methodist Church and served as Church Secretary for many years, the first Female Volunteer Fire Fighter in Lee Co and served for 32 years, and a CNA for over 30 years.
Mrs. Wicker is survived by her husband Winfred (Wimp) Wicker; son Lee Wicker (Courtney); daughter, Lucinda Sechrest (Jason); grandchildren, Katlyn Lee Carter (Dylan), Cole Wicker, Hunter Lee Wicker, Mason Sechrest and granddog, Buddy Wicker; sister, Linda King; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00pm Monday at the Church prior to the Funeral service.
