Michele Lynn Riggsbee

Michele Lynn Riggsbee, 68, of Sanford passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, after a brief, but hard-fought illness.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Michele was born in Wellington, Kansas to Raymond Pennock and Wanda Peterson. She was raised by her father, Marvin Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents. Michele grew up in Kansas but had made North Carolina her home for the last 23 years. She was a hard-working woman, dedicated to her family and devoted to her husband. She took pride in her home, was an avid gardener, caretaker, and was always ready to give & and receive laughter. Her love for motorcycle riding is how she met her husband, Scott. She had recently retired at the time of her passing.

Michele is survived by her husband of 15 years, Scott Riggsbee; her beloved dog, Mabel; daughters, Christie Glenn (Troy), and Jessica Mashburn (Shane), stepson Shane Riggsbee (Kati); 8 grandchildren, Catherine, Trenton, Daniel, Pete, Daymon, Tyler, Trent, and Jayce; brother Mitch Peterson (Tracy). She was blessed with 7 great-grandchildren. Michele was also very close to her Aunt Almetta Iverson and bonus daughter/niece, Kristina Walker.
