Myrtle Ray Glass

Myrtle Ray Simpson Glass, 100, of Sanford peacefully passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

 Mrs. Glass was born in Lee Co, daughter of the late Reid Simpson and Mary Esther Dalrymple Simpson. Due to the death of her mother at birth and her father being overseas in WWI, she was raised by her grandparents, Archie and Sarah Frances Dalrymple. Mrs. Glass was preceded in death by her husband, John B. “Frosty” Glass, her daughter, Brenda Glass Banks and son in law Chuck Banks. Also preceding her in death are her siblings, Paul Dalrymple, Wesley Dalrymple, LeRoy Dalrymple, Wilson Dalrymple, Flossie Crayton, Banks Simpson, and Ernestine Maddox.

 Mrs. Glass has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1939, a member of the Fidelus Sunday School Class and her Missions Circle.  She was a devout Christian, loving wife, mother, and homemaker who raised her children to have a personal relationship with the Lord.  What a joy we have in knowing we will see her once again in Heaven.

 Mrs. Glass is survived by her daughter, Judy Glass Hamilton (Tom) of Sanford; son John B. Glass Jr of Sanford; brother Rupert Dalrymple (Rachael) of Maryland; grandchildren, Charles Banks (Teresa), Bryan Banks, Tammy Strickland (Allan), Sam Hamilton (Alicia), John Hamilton, Mark Hamilton (Laura Lea), and Mary Esther Osborne (Jeff); 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

 The family will receive friends in the Parlor at First Baptist Church beginning at 10:00am Monday.
