Neil Wilson Douglas

April 13, 1943 — November 12, 2017

Neil Douglas, 74 of Sanford passed away after fighting a long illness on Sunday November 12, 2017. Born in Harnett County he was the son of the late Charlie Glenn Douglas and Dinah Creed Douglas.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Handcox Douglas, his parents, his brothers Billy, Lloyd and Floyd Douglas and a sister Elsie Douglas Carpenter.

 

Mr. Douglas is survived by his sister, Pauline Myers of Sanford, a son, Franklin G. Douglas (Lonny) of Sanford; grandsons Aaron G. Douglas (Melissa) of Raleigh and Brandon N. Douglas (Christina) of Modesto, CA.; grand-daughters Brittany Leigh Clark (Shawn) of Lima, Oh and Krista Douglas of NM and two great grandsons of Lima, OH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Douglas is also survived by his special friend and companion, Julia Holder. A special note of thanks is given to Julia for all the love and care given to Neil in the last few years.

 

Mr. Douglas worked as a project manager for Adams Electric, a maintenance manager for Unifi Span Yarn and his own electrical company for years.

 

He was a long time member of the Moose Club, enjoyed training dogs and riding his horses. He was an avid fan of old time country music and loved to dance. He spent his retirement years learning how to play guitar and sing.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday at Woodside Methodist Church on Spring Hill Church Rd, Lillington.

 

In lieu of flowers or gifts we are asking that family and friends bring a “covered dish” to the fellowship hall on their way into the sanctuary for the service where a reception will be held immediately after the service allowing an opportunity for everyone to visit and share memories.
