Norman James “Jim” Williams 80, of Sanford passed away Sunday June 9, 2019 at home.
There will be a Memorial Mass at 2pm Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Stephens Roman Catholic Church, 901 Franklin Drive, Sanford, NC.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Norman F. Williams and Rosemary Strohmenger Williams. He is survived by his fiancé Charlane Huff of the home, his sister, Beverly Vanasek of California, his daughters Holly Reedy (John) and Casey Shirey (John) both of Ohio and stepdaughters, Melanie Bean (David) and Melinda Wright (Chris), and 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Jim enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1958 as a Parachute Rigger and served four years, he was extremely proud to be a Marine. Jim loved all sports, but his passion was golf. He was an assistant pro at an Indiana Golf Course in the 1960s, then when he decided to return to NC after falling in love with the state when he was stationed at Cherry Point, NC he then decided to become a professional Club Maker. Jim then spent the rest of is years building and repairing golf clubs. He owned and operated a golf pro shop in Sanford.
There will be no formal calling hours per Jim’s request, but there will be a reception at the church after the Mass.
