Opal Champion Moore

 

Opal Champion Moore, 93 of Sanford peacefully passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at Westfield Rehabilitation Center. Arrangments to be announced.

 

She was born on March 9th, 1930, in Harnett County to the late Ray Lee Champion and Nova Deaton Champion. She was a member of Tramway Baptist and of the Tabernacle Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Ray Moore Sr.; brother Ray Lee Champion Jr.; half-brothers Elbert Cox, Robert Cox, and Clarence Cox; half-sisters Willia Cox McDugan, Mildred Champion Strickland, and Flonnie Champion Brooks.

 

She is survived by sons, William Ray Moore Jr. and wife Shujin Liu of Denver, CO, and Donald Gergory Moore and wife Ellen Burnette of Memphis, TN, and a very special friend and caregiver, Kay Holt of Sanford.

 

A committal of both William “Billy” Moore and Opal Champion Moore will follow the memorial service at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jackson Springs, NC.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Tramway Baptist Church, 2401 Jefferson Davis Highway, Sanford, NC 27330.
