Peggy Montgomery VonCanon Wyatt, 97 of Sanford passed away Wednesday September 25, 2024, after a brief illness. A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday October 3rd at St Luke United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wyatt was born in Moore Co a daughter of the late Forest Whitney VonCanon and Margaret Elizabeth McCaskill VonCanon. Mrs. Wyatt was a member of Steel Street Methodist Church that later became, St Luke United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member for 75 years. She was an avid gardener, a member of the Sanford Music Club, Picwick Papers Literary Club, and the Dogwood Garden Club. Mrs. Wyatt was an excellent seamstress and cook. She was best known for her jellies and pickles. Weather permitting you could find her out working in her yard and in the cold weather she enjoyed being in front of the fireplace. For many years she made baby blankets for the local hospital.
Mrs. Wyatt and her husband has an open door for friends and family, they traveled all over the world.
Mrs. Wyatt is survived by her daughters, Margaret Elizabeth “Liz” McGrath, and Kathryn Davis; sons, William Franklin Wyatt III and John Walker Wyatt (Katherine); a sister, Clara “Took” Bowles; two grandchildren, Eric McGrath (Mary) and Victoria Montgomery “Monty” Davis (Ryan); and one great grandchild, Ethan McGrath; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin “Bill” Wyatt Jr; siblings, Alice Cotton, Beth Buchanan, Whit VonCanon, Jean Hilton, Julia Rose, and John VonCanon.
The family will greet friends at 3:00 pm Thursday (10/3/2024) in the Ladies Parlor at St Luke.
Memorial can be made to the Choir Fund at St Luke United Methodist Church 2916 Wicker St, Sanford, NC 27330.
