Richard Byron Hager 64, of Sanford passed away at Duke University Medical Center on Tuesday July 11, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday July 16, 2017 at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
Mr. Hager was born in Iredell County and was preceded in death by his father, Richard M. Hager and his mother Catherine Winecoff. He served many years on the Board of Elections and also served as Past Chairman. He served as a Family Law Specialist for 37 years. He graduated with an undergrad degree from UNC and was a part of the charter class of Campbell School of Law.
Mr. Hager is survived by his wife, Kimberly Simpson Hager of Sanford; son, Richard Simpson Alexander Hager of Sanford; daughter, Sarah Frances Hager Oxendine (Ryan) of Raleigh; daughter, Elaine Hager Berton (Gheric) of Charlotte; son, Byron Patrick Hager of Wilmington and daughter, Wendy Hager Kreitman (Ryan) of Raleigh; brothers, Greg Hager (Wanda) of Winterville and Tony Hager (Mary) of North Myrtle Beach; sister, Rhonda Argenbright (Dean) of Winterville; five grandchildren, Hayes and Cate Oxendine, Cameron and Davis Berton, and Parker Kreitman; many nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 2-3pm in the Ladies Parlor before the Funeral.
