Richard Alan Quinn Sr., 79 passed away Saturday May 20, 2017 at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation. A memorial service will be held 11am Friday May 26, 2017 at St. Francis Anglican Church. A private committal will be held at St Thomas Episcopal Church Columbarium.
Richard was born September 15, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Morton John and Edna Pine Quinn. He loved sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies. When Richard and Mary came to Sanford he worked with Roberts Co. and later had an opportunity to purchase Morton’s Restaurant and renamed it Rich’s Corner (home of the Yellow Jacket Burger). Later he became a franchisee with Burger King and eventually owned seven restaurants. He had an individual love for each member of his family and enjoyed surprising them with elaborate family trips. He truly was a man who loved his family.
Richard is survived by his wife Mary Moore Quinn; sons, Richard A. (Rick) Quinn Jr.(Frankie D. Quinn) of Chattanooga, TN and Thomas S. Quinn (Carol T. Quinn) of Marietta, GA as well as his daughter Patricia Q. Griffin (Michael P. Griffin); grandchildren; Matthew D. Quinn (Courtney C. Quinn), Jamie Quinn (Alexis Arterberry), Richard Alex Quinn, Patrick Dylan Quinn, Thomas S. Quinn Jr.(Colleen D. Quinn), Caitlin A. Quinn, Quinn A. Griffin (Brian K. Bonville) and Kelly G. Griffin; great grandchild Mabel C. Quinn; brother Leonard L. Quinn (Alison Quinn) of NJ.
The family will receive friends Thursday 4-7pm at Mike & Patti Griffin’s residence 504 Valley Rd. Sanford, NC.
