Richard Vernon Wright

Richard Vernon Wright, 90 of Sanford passed away Friday September 9, 2022. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday (9/18/2022) at Grace Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Wright was born in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late James Vernon Wright Jr., and Esther Stitzel Wright. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margery Lee Geiger Wright. Mr. Wright was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, and a member of Grace Chapel Church. For 20 plus years he was an active Cub Scout Leader and most active with the Pinewood Derby races.

Mr. Wright is survived by his twin daughters, Marilyn Lee Wright Pollock of Kinston, and Marion Lynn Wright Jones (Alfred) of Sanford; sons, David Richard Wright (Sharon) of Willow Spring, NC, and Robert James Wright of Sanford; seven grandchildren), Jillian Pollock, Christopher Pollock (Kimberly), Shannon Jones, Cheryl Jones Bennett (Michael), Leia Wright Perkins (Brandon), Jonathan Wright (Cassy), and Sean Wright: nine great grandchildren, Skylar, Stephen, Mason, Allyson, Benjamin, Emily, Noah, Theo, and Callen; and his brother, Rev. Howard J. Wright (Carol) of Erie, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday (9/16/2022) at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home.
